Respiratory Essentials ABG Workshop
Course Overview
The ISIN Essential Skills in Respiratory Medicine Course is a 12-hour training program spread over three days, tailored for final-stages medical students, fresh graduates, and junior/senior resident doctors. This comprehensive workshop focuses on respiratory history-taking, physical examination, CXR and CT scan interpretation, ABG analysis, pulmonary function tests, and oxygen therapy. Combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills, the course aims to enhance participants’ ability to diagnose and manage common respiratory conditions effectively.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this 3-day respiratory workshop, the junior doctors should be able to:
1. Perform a comprehensive respiratory-focused physical examination, accurately identifying normal and abnormal findings.
2. Demonstrate effective communication skills when taking a detailed respiratory history, including eliciting relevant information and building rapport with patients.
3. Interpret common radiological manifestations of respiratory diseases, correlating them with the clinical presentation.
4. Develop a structured approach to the assessment and management of patients with respiratory complaints.
5. Recognize the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the care of respiratory patients, including collaboration with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.
6. Apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop to their clinical practice, improving their overall competence in managing respiratory patients.
7. Interpret common ABG and PFT findings and correlate them with the clinical case.
8. Formulate a structured approach to assessing and managing hypoxic patients in real practice.
